My name is Sebastian, and I’m an official tour guide in Amsterdam — though guiding wasn’t where my career began. For over 20 years, I built and ran creative and tech companies, working with brands like BMW, Adidas, and Coca-Cola, and even creating video games for HALO. But when COVID hit, I realized I wanted something different: less screen time, more people, more stories, and more of the city I love. So I made a bold switch — I became a tour guide.
And it turns out, this is where I truly belong. I’ve always been fascinated by history, philosophy, and the big ideas that connect past and present. On my tours, I don’t just share facts — I tell stories that spark emotion, laughter, and curiosity. I love showing how Amsterdam shaped the modern world, from the birth of capitalism and liberalism to its surprising role in the American Revolution. My signature “New Amsterdam Tour” uncovers the Dutch roots of the United States — a hidden history few people have ever heard.
Since 2022, I’ve guided thousands of visitors through Amsterdam’s streets, canals, and stories — from food tours and Anne Frank’s legacy to the city’s darker sides. Along the way, I’ve had the honor of guiding people like Bob Odenkirk and John Kerry, but what I enjoy most is connecting with curious travelers from all walks of life. Guests often tell me I make history come alive — that I’m funny, passionate, and a natural storyteller.
When I’m not guiding, I’m reading history, listening to philosophy podcasts, skiing, or traveling with my family. I live in the Jordaan with my partner (an American citizen, who always jokes I’m more American than she is) and our two kids.
If you join one of my tours, I promise you won’t just see Amsterdam — you’ll experience it, feel it, and take away stories that stay with you long after the walk is over.
